Ryan Helsley, the fireballing two-time All-Star closer and longest-tenured member of the St. Louis Cardinals, recently estimated his chances of being traded away at “90 percent.” He was proven correct on Wednesday when he was traded to the New York Mets.

The Mets added Soto from the Baltimore Orioles, Helsley from the St. Louis Cardinals, and Tyler Rogers from the Giants, creating a potentially devastating bridge to star closer Edwin Diaz.

The New York Mets picked up the All-Star closer on Wednesday ahead of the MLB trade deadline, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan. Reportedly going back to St. Louis are prospects Jesus Baez, Nate Dohm and Frank Elissalt.
