Between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. local time Thursday, an EF1 strength tornado occurred in Pico Rivera, California, about 12 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles, according the National Weather Service.
The storm, which forecasters said could produce tornadoes, is expected to strengthen Friday and move towards the central US.
