Addition of Cole Hamels to Phillies' keystone combo gives Philadelphia three surging candidates on this year's Hall of Fame ballot.
The Phillies recently signed Francisco Renteria, a top prospect who is already drawing comparisons to Bobby Abreu.
Newly added Philadelphia Phillies reliever Brad Keller is the latest player to join Team USA for the 2026 World Baseball Classic.
The team pursued free-agent infielder Bo Bichette, attempting to make a big splash for an external free agent for the first time since December 2022. But Bichette on Jan. 16 agreed to a three-year, $126 million deal with the New York Mets.
The Phillies were offering Bichette seven years and somewhere in the range of $190M to $200M. He chose a shorter-term deal with the Mets.

Phillies retain franchise mainstay J.T. Realmuto
The 34-year-old Realmuto had another solid showing for the Phillies in 2025. He posted a respectable .257/.315/.384 batting line in his 550 plate appearances, hitting 12 homers and 26 doubles. Realmuto was excellent defensively, saving six runs behind the plate while throwing out 29.7% of would-be basestealers (league average in 2025 was 23.2%).
Rumors claim that the Boston Red Sox kept tabs on catcher JT Realmuto in free agency before he re-signed with the Philadelphia Phillies.
