Rockies, Orlando Arcia and Giants

Former Atlanta Braves shortstop Orlando Arcia was a hero for the Colorado Rockies Thursday evening. Down 7-6 in the bottom of the ninth with two outs and the bases loaded, Arcia hit a two-run single to win it against the San Francisco Giants.
Arcia returned to his former home Friday, now a member of the Colorado Rockies, and was penciled in to start at shortstop and hit seventh in the series opener against Atlanta.
Usually ignored like a backwater town, the Rockies have become national media darlings for all of the wrong reasons.

The Colorado Rockies got a win on Thursday and avoided reaching a new low and setting the record for the worst start in the modern era.
On the mound: Starting pitcher Carson Palmquist gave up four hits and two runs in four innings before giving way to Jake Bird, who struck out five of the six batters he faced. With the outing, Bird lowered his ERA at Coors Field this season to 0.41 in 17 innings.
