According to the National Athletic Trainers' Association, the National Collegiate Athletic Association adopted guidelines to prevent heat-related illnesses and deaths and recommends a 14-day heat acclimation period. Those guidelines limit practices to one hour at walkthrough speed. They also recommend that athletic trainers be on-site.
