LOS ANGELES (AP) — Luka Doncic has agreed to a three-year, $165 million maximum contract extension with the Los Angeles Lakers, bypassing a chance at free agency next summer to build a long-term future with his new team.

The Los Angeles Lakers and superstar guard Luka Doncic have reached an agreement on a three-year contract extension, which includes a player option in 2028.

The Slovenian star and the franchise show their commitment to each other with a deal six months after the blockbuster trade with the Dallas Mavericks.
