BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — A courtroom a couple miles from LSU's Tiger Stadium was the focus of college football Thursday, when several dozen athletes awaited a ruling that could clear the way for them to compete in NCAA games this fall — even if they already turned pro.

Via Amanda Christovich of Front Office Sports, the complaint alleges that LSU and Kiffin “waged a deliberate and coordinated campaign to recruit professional athletes to play football for LSU during the 2026-27 season, including players who had signed NFL contracts with the Cleveland Browns, New Orleans Saints, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.”
Nick Saban issued a warning Thursday to LSU and coach Lane Kiffin. The ESPN analyst and former Alabama coach said the Tigers should “be careful” about adding former NFL players to the roster.
Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr is urging the SEC to consider suspending or removing LSU from the conference if the school puts former professional football players on its roster.
The Southeastern Conference filed a lawsuit against LSU and its leadership in Alabama federal court on Thursday, alleging the school had “waged a deliberate and coordinated campaign to recruit professional athletes” against league rules.
