Haitian police officers Monday demanded better protection and treatment a day after gunmen killed a Kenyan police officer who was part of a U.N.-backed mission tasked with fighting gangs in the troubled Caribbean country.

Just a day after a Kenyan police officer was fatally shot and killed in Haiti, police unions in the Caribbean country have issued demands for better protection. According to reporting from the AP and Washington Post, a leader of one of two powerful police unions in Haiti on Monday demanded more equipment to fight the gangs.
