Israel has attacked Syrian military assets and has troops operating in the Golan buffer zone and slightly beyond.

The Israeli military advanced into the Quneitra Governorate in southern Syria, instructing the residents of the towns of Al-Hadr and Al-Hamidiyah to leave, aiming to annex these areas into the buffer zone along the border between the two countries.

Israel carried out a wave of heavy airstrikes across Syria as its troops advanced deeper into the country, a Syrian opposition war monitor said. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is on trial for corruption.

Israel denied on Tuesday that its forces had penetrated into Syrian territory beyond the buffer zone with the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, after Syrian sources said the incursion had extended to within 25 km (15 miles) of the capital Damascus.
