Air India flight AI171, a Boeing 787-8 carrying 242 people, crashed after taking off from Ahmedabad on its way to London.
Nayan Vagadaya had driven more than three hours to the Civil Hospital here after he heard that his uncle was one of the victims of the Air India plane crash, the country’s deadliest in almost three decades.
In a move aimed at addressing public sentiment and reducing passenger discomfort, Air India has retired the flight number AI-171, which was associated with the recent Ahmedabad plane crash that resulted in atleast 270 fatalities.
Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu confirmed that the plane's black box was recovered around 5 pm on Friday. He said that decoding the black box would give an in-depth understanding of what transpired during and moments before the crash.
