The St. Louis Cardinals will be without one of their starting pitchers for the next calendar year. Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Hunter Dobbins underwent reconstructive elbow surgery to repair a torn UCL and flexor tendon.

Hunter Dobbins allowed three runs over four-plus innings before leaving with left forearm tightness Friday versus the Phillies.

With Andre Pallante and Hunter Dobbins banged up, the St. Louis Cardinals ought to consider promoting one of these talented pitching prospects for a late-season audition.

The Cardinals placed starter Andre Pallante on the 15-day injured list on Friday with right elbow inflammation. The move is retroactive to Aug. 18.
