North Forney High School, Brown Middle School, Smith Intermediate, Dewberry Elementary, Blackburn Elementary and Forney Learning Academy were placed in secure status. According to Forney ISD's website, that means exterior doors are locked and no one is allowed in or out of the campuses, but business inside should go on as usual.

An argument near Brown Middle School escalated into a shooting in Forney, resulting in one death and two people in custody. No incidents occurred on the school campus.

The Kaufman County Sheriff's Office is investigating a deadly shooting that happened in a Forney neighborhood Friday afternoon near Brown Middle School. Investigators say the shooting took place at a home in the 2000 block of Chisholm Trail.
