A former Canadian Olympic snowboarder and the largest cocaine distributor in Canada, according to officials, has been arrested and was placed in US custody.

Federal officials say Ryan Wedding, a former Canadian Olympic snowboarder long accused of running a billion‑dollar drug enterprise, has been arrested after more than a decade on the run.

He turned himself in at the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City on Thursday, Mexico’s Security Minister Omar García Harfuch said.
