Heavy downpours today are bringing the Boston area its wettest day in months as a cold front and rapidly intensifying low-pressure system unleash rounds of drenching rain over New England with strong gusty winds and possible thunderstorms.

A powerful storm system will come to Massachusetts overnight into Wednesday, bringing heavy rain, strong winds and a surge of unseasonable warmth. Localized flooding and wind damage are possible.

But when Mother Nature is threatening to blow away the holiday cheer with strong winds and heavy rain, it'll be a game time decision. The preliminary plan is to close if it's pouring rain, and hopefully the wind gusts won't topple the well-anchored exhibits Brother Ron Taylor and his team have put in place.
