The moisture and remnants of the system will bring slightly cooler temperatures and a chance of rain to North Texas.

As Tropical Storm Edouard crawled inland, heavy rain lashed southeastern Texas, with some areas receiving well over a foot. Forecasters warned that rains could persist into Thursday.

Rain fell across parts of Texas and Louisiana on Tuesday as Tropical Storm Edouard made landfall near the border between the two states.

According to the National Hurricane Center, tropical storm force wind gusts remain possible near the center of the storm.

Edouard weakened to a tropical depression Tuesday night, but wind and heavy rainfall continued to sweep across Texas, the National Hurricane Center said.

Edouard is forecast to make landfall in southeast Texas today, bringing flooding rain of up to 9 inches, storm surge and possible tornadoes.

Tropical Storm Edouard dumped up to nearly two feet of rain across parts of Texas, triggering widespread flooding, rescues of stranded motorists, and damage to homes and infrastructure as the system lingered and weakened into a tropical depression.

More than 77,000 Texas customers were without power Wednesday morning, Sept. 2, as Tropical Depression Edouard continued to impact the state.

Edouard’s remnants continued to push inland over northeastern Texas early Thursday as it drags a tail of residual rainfall across flood-impacted communities of eastern Texas.
