North Texas' brief rainy weather may come to an end Friday.

Tropical Storm Edouard has triggered hurricane watches and warnings along the northwestern Gulf Coast after forming on Monday, Aug. 31.

Edouard’s remnants continued to push inland over northeastern Texas early Thursday as it drags a tail of residual rainfall across flood-impacted communities of eastern Texas.

As Tropical Storm Edouard crawled inland, heavy rain lashed southeastern Texas, with some areas receiving well over a foot. Forecasters warned that rains could persist into Thursday.

Tropical Storm Edouard made landfall near Johnson Bayou, Louisiana, at 2:20 p.m. CDT. Maximum sustained winds were estimated to be 60 mph.

According to the National Hurricane Center, tropical storm force wind gusts remain possible near the center of the storm.

Not everyone will see rainfall, but a few strong thunderstorm will be possible in South-Central Texas between 5 and 9 p.m.

Tropical Depression Edouard is bringing heavy rain and flooding to portions of the Upper Texas and Southwestern Louisiana as we head into Wednesday.

The former Tropical Storm Edouard weakened into a depression Tuesday night while unleashing heavy rains and strong winds on parts of Texas, knocking out power to thousands, toppling trees and flooding roads.
