Heavy rain killed more than 30 people and forced authorities to evacuate tens of thousands as swaths of northern China were lashed by torrential downpours that sparked landslides and flooding, state media said Tuesday.

HONG KONG (Reuters) -Heavy rain around Beijing and across north and northeast China has killed two and forced thousands to relocate as authorities warned of further widespread rain and risks of disasters including landslides and flooding.

The dayslong rainstorms have left 30 dead in the Chinese capital and eight dead in its neighboring province of Hebei, state-run broadcaster CCTV said.
