Almost one in three people in the Gaza Strip are going for days without eating, the UN's food aid programme has warned. Keir Starmer suggests UK will play role in aid air drops.
UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer on Friday said that Britain may soon begin airdropping aid into Gaza, after over a third of UK MPs signed a letter urging the government to recognise a Palestinian state.
A senior UN official on Wednesday urged the Security Council to push for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the release of all hostages, warning that the war has become “a nightmare of historic proportions” and it is “long past time” for the fighting to end and for hostages to return home.
Hunger and disease continue to stalk Palestinians in Gaza, and aid organizations are warning that children are at greatest risk of starvation. A U.N. worker has described people as "walking corpses."
